DO CHIROPRACTORS BULK BILL?

We often get asked by patients ‘do chiropractors bulk bill’ and the answer is yes, but it’s a qualified yes. Here at The Back Clinic, we bulk bill your diagnostic imaging (X-rays) if they are required. We can also bulk bill Chronic Disease Management plan consultations.

CHRONIC DISEASE MANAGEMENT

If you have a chronic pain condition, you may be eligible for up to five chiropractic visits a year, paid for by Medicare, as part of a Chronic Disease Management plan (CDM). This was formally known as Enhanced Primary Care or EPC. A CDM is a clinical judgement for your GP, taking into account your medical condition and care needs, as well as the general guidance set out in the Medicare Benefits Schedule.

WHAT IS A CHRONIC MEDICAL CONDITION?

A chronic medical condition typically is present for longer than six months. Examples include:

  • Asthma
  • Cancer
  • Cardiovascular disease
  • Diabetes
  • Musculoskeletal conditions (chiropractors help here)

Your care as part of a CDM may include ongoing care from a multidisciplinary team, including bulk billing for chiropractic.

HOW DO I GET A REFERRAL?

Your GP will be able to assess your health complaint and will determine if you are eligible for a CDM plan. Your GP should be able to tell you if your health condition may benefit from chiropractic care under your CDM plan.

If your GP decides that you are eligible, you should receive a referral. Our team will then confirm a date and time for you to come into clinic for your first visits.

WHAT TO DO NOW?

If you have any questions we would love to hear from you. You may also take a look at some of the conditions we commonly help with: lower back pain, headaches, neck pain, poor posture and sports injury.
