Paediatric Chiropractor Sydney

Here at The Back Clinic, we are focused on providing the right care and advice for you and your family. We have a particular interest in caring for children, regardless of their age. That’s because young, growing bodies often need a little help from time to time.

Our team of registered chiropractors often help to improve nervous system health and spinal function in children while addressing a range of health concerns.

Common musculoskeletal symptoms we help with in children may include:

  • Postural issues
  • Low back pain
  • Some cases of headaches and migraine
  • Scoliosis or unusual bends in the spine
  • Early development posture and growth issues
  • Monitoring of height, weight and posture

Clinical Best Practice

When it comes to chiropractic for kids, our approach is consistent with current evidence and/or best-practice approaches. This includes consideration of the following points:

  • Explaining the clinical basis for treatment inline with current acceptable evidence
  • Consultations with children take into account the different anatomical, physiological and psychological differences when compared to the needs of an adult.
  • We will communicate with you and keep you informed about the risks and benefits associated with chiropractic care and present alternatives to treatment.

The Chiropractic Board of Australia notes the following:

“Chiropractors receive extensive university education and training, including about caring for children. Parents typically seek chiropractic services for their children for musculoskeletal disorders. In caring for children chiropractors may provide a range of treatment modalities including manipulation, dietary and ergonomic advice, exercise, counselling and other manual therapies such as massage”.

We are happy to work in a multi-practitioner setting and may communicate with your child’s other health practitioners or local GP, as needed.

Now if your child’s symptoms do not warrant chiropractic treatment, we may refer out to other registered health practitioners as required.

Commonly Asked Questions About Paediatric Chiropractic Care

Yes, when provided by a trained and registered chiropractor, chiropractic care for children is generally considered safe. Techniques are gentle and specifically adapted to a child’s age, size, and developmental stage. Chiropractors follow clinical best practices and consult with parents at every stage of care.
Children may visit a chiropractor for concerns such as poor posture, back pain, scoliosis, headaches, or spinal imbalances. Chiropractic care may help improve musculoskeletal function and posture during important stages of growth and development.

A paediatric chiropractic session typically includes a comprehensive history, posture and spine check, gentle manual therapy (if appropriate), and advice for home care. The chiropractor will also discuss the goals of care with parents and answer any questions.

Chiropractors may see children of various ages, from toddlers to teenagers. However, all care is based on clinical judgment, best practice standards, and informed discussions with parents or guardians.
